Why is it called "Fish Camp" if our mascot is an owl?
Freshmen are introduced to this slang term during the August orientation day. Some believe it comes from the 3-letter abbreviation for Freshmen (FSH), but Melanie Hensleigh-Parsons, Student Activities Director, provides the following explanation:
"Fish Camp is a slang term for freshmen, and we started ours about 10 years ago at GHS, designed in similar spirit to the TX A&M orientation of the same name to welcome Freshmen to campus and to introduce Owls to our traditions and goals."
